In this article, under the title of 'The Reality of Magic (Sihr) and Its differences from miracle', we deal with the relationship between the magic and miracle in the context of Islamic Theology works and other literatures. First of all , we concentrate on the term 'sihr' and explain its lexicon, And then we look at its usage in the Qur'an and Prophetic tradition (hadith). Meanwhile, we try to analyse various types of magic together with its main features. In addition, we give detailed information about the discussion of both Mutazilites and Muslim Orthodoxy's opinion on the reality of sihr. Here we investigate their evidences to prove or to negate the notion of sihr. Main topic of our essay is to show the differences between the magic and miracle, their content, the purpose which they fulfill, the way of their performance, and their consequences will be discussed in great length. Finally, we provide a brief evaluation to place stress on our findings that there is a difference between the magic and miracle.
