A New Approach in Religious Education: Competence Models and Educational Standards-A Conceivable Implementation of the German and Austrian Model in Turkey

Abstract

Substantial studies have been undertaken in Austria and Germany in order to enhance
the quality of education in general and religious education in particular. This paper aims
to analyze the developments of competence models and educational standards for religious
education in the above mentioned countries by giving an overview of significant
studies and current debates. This is achieved through drawing a general framework of existing competence models
and educational standards in the field of religious education. It is expected that the
reader will get an insight into the current status of competence models and educational
standards for religious education, particularly for Islamic religious educatoin, and will be
able to gain inspiration and experience from the German and Austrian cases. The writer
also attempts to bring a new perspective on religious culture and deontology courses (Din
Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi: DKAB) in Turkey.

Abstract

Türkiye’de olduğu gibi diğer Avrupa ülkelerinde de din eğitimi tartışmaları güncelliğini
korumaktadır. Bu makale Almanya ve Avusturya’da din eğitimi alanında yeni bir yakla-
şım olan ve kapsamlı olarak tartışılan ‘Yeterlilik Modellerinin’ ve bunun devamı olarak
‘Eğitim Standartlarının’ geliştirilmesini ele almaktadır. Amaç, Almanya ve Avusturya’da
yeterlilik modellerinin ve eğitim standartlarının gelişim sürecini ve konuyla ilişkin tartışmaları
ana hatlarıyla sunmaktır. Bu iki ülkedeki aktüel din eğitimi uygulamalarını ve
gelişmelerini Türk okurlarının bilmesi ve bu tecrübelerden esinlenmesi umulmaktadır.
Yazar, Türkiye’deki Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi (DKAB) dersine yeni bir bakış açısı sunmayı
hedeflemektedir.
