Poems of Sheikhzade Ahmet Ziyâ Efendi

Abstract

Poems of Sheikhzade Ahmet Ziyâ Efendi In the transition process from Otoman Empire to Turkish Republic, Sheikhzade Ahmet Ziyâ Efendi who was emerged as an important figure, was an Ottoman intellectual who was so effective around. As he was a teacher on one hand he was also a politician, a sheikh and a linguist on the other. Sheikhzade Ahmet Ziyâ Efendi who has shaped his all scientific, political and preaching activities in the centre of the Bakr Sami Pasha and Islah-ı Madarıs-ı Islamıyya madrasas, wrote prose books about Islamic Law. Apart from these Works there are three verse books written by him. One of these three poems is an eulogy written for Prophet Muhammad, the other one is an other eulogy with a political content written after his little brother is punished with execution in the chaotic political atmosphere. The last poem is a faraız-nâme which he wrote about heritage issues in Islamic Law. In this study first we gave information about the life of Sheikhzade Ahmet Ziyâ Efendi, then we examined these three poems in terms of content and form in detail
