Abstract
In this article I am going to discuss Malek Bennabi’s (1905–1973) definition of Quranic
phenomenon and his approach to the Muslim society, revelation on the basis of his work,
The Quranic Phenomenon. Bennabi was educated in Paris and Algiers in engineering,
later based himself in Cairo, where he spent much of his time toiling through fields of history,
philosophy and sociology. In 1963, upon returning to Algeria, he witnessed modern
science and technological civilizations unfold before his very eyes. This has spurred him to
reflect on the question of culture in the early nineteenth century. His approach was simple;
not parroting what had been discovered before his time, but rather, searching for
what constitutes the essence of culture and the birth of civilization. He wrote Le Phé-
nomène Coranique (The Quranic Phenomenon) in 1946. Bennabi’s reformulation of the
Quran’s miracle within the wider philosophical and historical context of the religious
phenomenon and prophetic movement is unique. It invites the mind to a different reading
of human religious history and a different understanding of the human condition that
goes far beyond the mere concerns of Muslims.
Abstract
Bu makalede Malik Bin Nebi’nin (1905–1973) Kur’an fenomenine ve Müslüman toplumuna ve vahye nasıl yaklaştığı temel eseri olan Kur’an Fenomeni ekseninde tartışılacaktır. Bin Nebi, Paris ve Cezayir’de mühendislik eğitimi gördü, daha sonra zamanının çoğunu tarih, felsefe ve sosyoloji alanında çalışmaya ayırdığı Kahire’de kaldı. 1963’te Cezayir’e döndükten sonra şahit olduğu modern bilim ve teknolojik medeniyetlerin açıklamasını yaptı. Bu, onu 19. yüzyıldaki kültür sorunu üzerine düşünmeye sevk etti. Yaklaşımı oldukça basitti; kendi zamanından önce keşfedilen şeyi tekrarlamak değil, bilakis, kültürün özünü ve medeniyetlerin doğuşunu oluşturan şeyi araştırmak. Kur’an Fenomeni’ni 1946’da yazdı. Bin Nebi’nin peygamberî hareketi ve dinî fenomeni geniş felsefî ve tarihsel bağlamı içinde Kur’an mucizesini yeniden formüle etmesi kendine özgüdür. Eser, zihni, insan dininin tarihini farklı bir okumaya ve Müslümanların ilgilerinden daha öteye giden insanî durumu farklı bir anlamaya davet etmektedir
