PRODUCTION AND APPLICATION OF THE "AHL AS-SUNNAH WA AL-JAMA'AH" AS AN INSTRUMENT OF LEGITIMACY

Abstract

“Ehlu’s-Sunne ve’l-Cemâ’a” (The Ahl as-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah - the Community of Tradition and Congregation) is a concept which the present powerful and sovereign group invented and employed to validate their presence, to support, to justify, namely to legitimatize their religious, social and political reality. So, from 73 sect stated in a hadith does it come out that the Community of Tradition and Congregation, the Saved Sect (Firqatun-Najiyah) was created or produced as an instrument of legitimacy. This study tries to investigate the meaning contents of production of the Ahl asSunnah wa al-Jama'ah as an instrument of legitimacy from the social, political and cultural viewpoint. In the study, the matter is considered in its sociological dimensions and an understanding approach, and with determinations, descriptions and interpretations.
