The effect of the period of Rightly Guided Calips, which has been the subject of hea- ted debates, has been felt in various fields. Contrary to what the Mu’tazilites, the Shi’ites and the Kharijites, who engaged in the theological debates with the Sunnites and there- fore contributed to the institutionalization of the Sunnism, said on the this period, the Sunnites also put forward their point of view regarding this period. In this article, the Sunnite point of view about the events taking place in this period in general, and those which took place in the reign of Ali in particular will be dealt with. The theological works of some of the eminent Sunni scholars will be our main sources. It is to be noted that in dealing with this period, Sunni scholars have adopted an apolegetic attitute and avoid any criticism to be levelled against the status of the Companions
