Fakhr al-Din al-Razi is known in the Kalam history as the person who combined the
philosophy with Kalam. In fact, he discussed some issues of the Islamic theology depending
on the methapysics of being (wujud) and contingency (imkan) which was derived
from Ibn Sina. This attitude essentially influenced Ahl al-Sunna Kalam after him. In
doing so, he didn’t hesitate to criticize his predecessors in many issues in the both
methodological and practical matters. This article is dealt with the critiques of Fakhr alDin
al-Razi upon the Ash‘arite Kalam, to which he himself adhered, on methodological
issues as well as on some matters such as the proof of creation, the visibility of God and
God’s admissibility of the temporal beings.
